About Us

Dem Derby covers independent rock & roll music: punk, garage, rockabilly and the ongoing habit of vinyl record collecting. The site grew out of long nights spent trading recommendations about which pressings were worth the money and which bands deserved a second listen.

Our team researches before recommending anything. That means listening to multiple pressings of the same album, comparing turntables and cartridges under similar conditions, and reading up on a band’s history before writing a single word about them. We’d rather skip a trending record than recommend something we haven’t actually heard.

Coverage decisions come down to relevance to the niche: does this record, reissue, or piece of gear matter to someone who cares about punk, garage, or rockabilly, and about building a collection that sounds good. We pass on general pop coverage and stick to what we know.

Dem Derby is a participant in the Amazon Associates program and earns from qualifying purchases made through links on this site.
